Novak Djokovic has set up a fascinating final clash at the Indian Wells Masters with American Taylor Fritz after an enthralling semi-final victory over Daniil Medvedev.
The 21-time Grand Slam champion, who had not played a competitive match since winning the Australian Open in January, showed no signs of rust as he battled through a 4-6 6-3 6-4 victory in two hours and 58 minutes.
Djokovic, who has reached his 1000th ATP Tour level main draw match, will now face Fritz in Sunday's final as he bids for a record-extending sixth Indian Wells title.
Victory for Fritz in the earlier semi-final was a formality after his opponent, Rafael Nadal, was forced to withdraw through injury.
