US Women's Open Purse Reaches Record $12 Million

Doubled in Two Years

The USGA announced on Wednesday that this year's U.S. Women's Open would have a purse of $12 million, a $1 million increase from last year's $11 million purse. This marks the second consecutive year that the Women's Open purse has increased by $1 million, and the third consecutive year that it has increased overall. The purse has now doubled in size over the past two years, rising from $6 million in 2021 to $12 million in 2023.

Increased Prize Money for Top Finishers

The increased purse will result in larger payouts for the top finishers at the Women's Open. The winner of the tournament will receive $2.25 million, an increase of $250,000 from last year. The runner-up will receive $1.5 million, up from $1.25 million, and the third-place finisher will receive $1 million, up from $750,000. The top 10 finishers will all receive at least $300,000, and the top 60 finishers will all receive at least $100,000.

Commitment to Women's Golf

The USGA's decision to increase the purse for the Women's Open is a reflection of the organization's commitment to women's golf. The USGA has been at the forefront of promoting women's golf for over a century, and the increased purse is a testament to the organization's belief in the growth and development of the women's game.

The 2023 U.S. Women's Open will be held from June 29th to July 2nd at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The tournament will be broadcast live on NBC and Golf Channel.
